Journalism and Communications Writing
News Writing
The Auburn Plainsman and USA Today College
Through my work as a collegiate correspondent with USA Today College and a reporter/editor with The Auburn Plainsman, I have a wealth of experience in hard news as well as feature and human interest writing.
At the Plainsman, I developed the skills of hyper-local coverage, breaking news and beat reporting:
"Toomer's Oaks Poisoned"
"Republican Chair Defends Expenses"
With USA Today College, my experience grew in reporting on issues of national importance:
"HB56 a Frightening Repeat of History"

I also have a wealth of experience in Editorial and Column writing:

Media Relations
Amnesty International USA, ACLU-TN, Office of University Writing at Auburn University
While I have immense experience in the field of journalism, I have spent equal time engaging the media as a communications professional.

Following an internship with Amnesty International media relations in New York City, I was hired as a media assistant. With Amnesty I honed my skills in P.R. writing and also learned the techniques of reaching out to top-tier media in a major market. Here are some pieces I had a hand in writing and editing:
"Kofi Annan Resignation 'Culmination of Failures' for U.N. on Syrian Crisis"
"Amnesty International Has No Ties to ALEC"
